About Me

I like to help people build the skills and insight that make day-to-day life more manageable and fulfilling.

Hi, I’m Anne-Marie

My Path to Psychotherapy

I’ve always been curious about the mind — what drives behaviour, how people get stuck, why we feel and think the way that we do. That curiosity led me into psychology early on, and so I graduated with a Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology at UBC, but it was my experience as a high-performance athlete that also shaped the work I do today. When I sustained life-altering injuries, I came to understand firsthand how deeply physical and mental health are connected — and how disruptive it can feel when they’re out of sync.

A Neuroscience-Informed Approach

That turning point drew me into the intersection of neuroscience and psychotherapy. I’ve studied the brain through university, post-graduate training, and my work at a neuroplasticity clinic — applying this knowledge to inform my practice. This lens allows me to combine the science of how the brain works with practical strategies for creating meaningful change.

How This Shapes My Work

I also bring lived experience with “stuckness” — the kind that shows up when life doesn’t go as planned. My goal isn’t just to listen, but to help you understand what’s happening in your system, equip you with tools and knowledge, and build your capacity to shift from surviving or coping, to living well.

My Philosophy

I believe therapy should be both a safe space but also a practical one—focused on equipping you with tools you can carry into your daily life. Life challenges can carry opportunities and open the door to change, if we allow them. What we do together in session is important, but lasting change comes from how you apply that work between sessions.

At the heart of my philosophy:

Change comes from practice — Effort and what you apply between sessions is what creates lasting change
Life can still be meaningful after unexpected difficulties — Even in change or loss, new directions and possibilities can emerge
You don’t need to figure it all out — Having skilled support makes the process faster, clearer, and less overwhelming.

I hold a Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology from the University of British Columbia and continue to deepen my learning through specialized certifications, continued education & workshops. My more notable areas of training include:

Specialized Training & Professional Development

  • I am certified in Neuropsychotherapy (NPT-C) and engage in on-going active participation in continuing education and workshops through a neuroplasticity clinic where I also work part-time, deepening expertise in brain-based approaches to recovery and resilience

  • Somatic and attachment-based methods (EFIT L1/2, multiple courses on trauma-informed approaches by Levine, Fisher, Schwartz).

  • Training in neurofeedback and have completed multiple courses in concussion recovery and chronic pain care. I work in partnership with Neuropeak Physiotherapy & Performance Centre, where I offer Neurofeedback and neurocoaching services.

  • Formal graduate-level education in CBT, ACT, EFT, with an emphasis on neuroscience-grounded practices.

  • Certified in San’Yas Indigenous Cultural Safety, ASIST, SafeTALK, and Psychological First Aid.

Ongoing professional development in inclusive/accessible practice (e.g., trauma-informed, cultural responsiveness, accessibility for neurodiverse clients).
